Magnolia C.A.R.E.S

About the foundation

A quiet promise, made in the shade of a magnolia.

The Magnolia C.A.R.E.S Foundation exists for one reason: nobody should have to choose between paying rent and paying for the medicine that keeps them well. We are the philanthropic arm of Magnolia Integrative Medicine, turning the private practice of holistic healthcare into a public good for Charleston.

Care in the clinic

Why we exist

Rooted in medicine. Reaching toward justice.

Since Magnolia Integrative Medicine opened in March 2025, we have practiced a different kind of care, one that treats people, not symptoms; that honors traditional botanical wisdom alongside modern lab science; that listens before it prescribes.

But too many families never make it through the clinic door. Every week we hear stories about people being turned away or unable to afford care because of not having health insurance or not having funding to afford integrative care, and others who simply were never introduced to it, and grew sicker for lack of knowledge and access. The Foundation is our answer, a way to bring the clinic to the community, on the community's terms.

"Mus tek cyear a de root fa heal de tree."

A Gullah Geechee proverb we keep close: you must take care of the root to heal the tree.

How we got here

A timeline, plainly told.

01
March 2025
The clinic opens its doors

Magnolia Integrative Medicine opens in Charleston, blending evidence-based medicine with ancestral wellness traditions. From the first month, patients arrive having never been told integrative care was an option for them.

02
Mid 2025
A widening call

Every week we hear stories about people being turned away or unable to afford care because of not having health insurance or not having funding to afford integrative care. Others arrive far sicker than they needed to be, not from a lack of will, but from a lack of knowledge and access.

03
Late 2025
Beyond the clinic walls

Our providers begin teaching in community rooms, churches, and school gyms, proving that education and early access change outcomes long before a prescription ever does.

04
2026
The Foundation is incorporated

Magnolia C.A.R.E.S is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the philanthropic arm that makes integrative care reachable for anyone who needs it, regardless of insurance or income.

Our vision

A Charleston where every neighbor has the tools, the knowledge, and the community to live in vibrant, self-directed health.

Our approach

Whole-person, evidence-based, and unapologetically rooted in the Lowcountry's traditions of care and kinship.

Our promise

100% of every dollar funds a program. No cure is behind a paywall. No door is closed to a neighbor in need.

Voices from our team

In our own words.

Our staff and volunteers carry the Lowcountry in the way they speak and the way they care. A little Gullah Geechee comes with the work.

"I volunteer because I saw my own grandmother choose between medicine and groceries. Nobody should have to make that choice."
Community volunteer
"They sat with me longer than any doctor ever had. For the first time, I felt like someone was actually listening."
Foundation patient
"Oh, yeah. That's my momma going to help those people."

Tenki tenki, thank you, for standing with your neighbors.
